Bobbitt Completes 32,100-Square-Foot Medical Building in Cary
12-03-2008

RALEIGH, N.C. – Bobbitt Design Build recently completed MacGregor Medical Center Building on MacGregor Pines Drive in Cary. Bobbitt provided their design build expertise, resulting in a three-story, 32,100-square-foot “Class A” office building.

First-time developers, MacGregor Medical, LLC, came to Bobbitt for help with the process of building this facility. It was intended to provide space for several growing medical practices that desire close proximity to Western Wake Hospital.

Once the shell building was complete, the owners recommended Bobbitt Design Build to provide the fit-ups for the medical practices that will occupy the space. Bobbitt has since completed a 6,425-square-foot fit-up for N.C. Urological Associates, with a medical office that incorporates X-ray and CT scanner clinical functions, as well as administrative and office space. Wake Nephrology’s fit-up has also been completed, featuring a large office space to serve the growing practice.

Currently, Bobbitt is working on the Cary Surgical Specialists fit-up, a 6,008-square-foot office, and Spectrum Labs fit-up with laboratory processing. Both projects will be finished in December.

Jeff Ford and Brian Griffith Earn LEED AP Certification
05-07-2008

RALEIGH, N.C. – Bobbitt Design Build announces that Jeff Ford and Brian Griffith, both project designers in the company’s Raleigh office, have been certified as Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professionals (LEED AP) through U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC).

To earn the credential, Ford and Griffith were required to demonstrate a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED Rating System. They have distinguished themselves as building professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully steward the LEED certification process. The LEED Professional Accreditation program was launched in 2001.

Ford has 12 years experience as a registered architect and has been a project designer with Bobbitt for eight years. “The LEED approach of considering various building systems as a whole benefits our customers,” said Ford. “We’ve already integrated this philosophy into building projects by combining energy-efficient components with smaller HVAC and power requirements.”

Brian Griffith has been with Bobbitt for 11 years and became a registered architect in 2004. He recently worked closely with Carpenter Animal Hospital to incorporate numerous green building aspects in the facility design and construction. “We plan to integrate ‘green’ into more of Bobbitt’s standard projects,” says Griffith.

In addition to Ford and Griffith, Bobbitt project developer Jim Bell is also a LEED AP and is a Green Advantage® instructor, teaching classes in the green building educational and certification system for building contractors and trades people. Bell currently serves as the Educational Committee chair of the Triangle Chapter of USGBC.

Bell, Ford and Griffith are leading Bobbitt’s green building effort, advising clients on ways to maximize the benefits of eco-friendly building practices. With the focus on five key areas – sustainable sites, water conservation, energy efficiency, conservation of materials and indoor environmental quality – they are helping clients save money and provide healthier work environments.

RALEIGH, N.C. – Bobbitt Design Build extends congratulations to Chief Walter M. Gardner, Jr., of Warrenton Rural Volunteer Fire Department who was selected as the Volunteer Fire Chief of the Year at the North Carolina Association of Fire Chiefs Mid-Winter Conference. Gardner was recognized during the three-day conference in early February in Atlantic Beach, N.C.

Bobbitt collaborated with Gardner in 2006 to build Warrenton’s new fire station located on South Main Street. The 13,540-square-foot facility allowed for all apparatus and state-of-the-art equipment to be housed inside the facility, which also doubles as a local emergency shelter.

“On behalf of Bobbitt, we congratulate Chief Gardner on being named Volunteer Fire Chief of the Year,” said Don Comer, CEO of Bobbitt Design Build. “He has set a tremendous example of leadership and public service with his good works in the community, county and across the state.”

Gardner was selected for the award by a committee of his peers from across North Carolina. He was presented with a plaque and white fire helmet with the designation inscribed on the front leather shield.

In addition to being recognized statewide this year, Gardner was awarded the 2007 Outstanding Municipal Elected Official in a five county region as Warrenton’s mayor, and he also led the Kerr-Tar Regional Council of Government as chairman.

“We are always excited to provide others an opportunity to come view our station, and we brag on and recommend Bobbitt to other fire departments on a regular basis,” said Chief Gardner.
