ITT Technical Institute

ITT Technical Institute will be starting its first semester in the Browning Business Center in Columbia, S.C. ITT Tech is a leading private college system focused on technology-oriented programs of study offered in six different schools: Information Technology, Drafting and Design, Electronics Technology, Business, Criminal Justice, and Health Sciences. Headquartered in Carmel, Indiana, it operates over 100 ITT Technical Institutes in more than 30 states, which provide career-focused, degree programs to approximately 61,000 students.

The 26,000-square-foot facility is not the first Bobbitt project in the Browning Business Center. Bobbitt has a strong professional relationship with property manager, Mountain Crest Capital, that purchased an old Wachovia building and is up-fitting the space for various tenants.

Bobbitt took ITT’s stringent specs and designed plans to meet the institute’s criteria. The complex roof system includes exact 8’6” ceiling heights and a lobby ceiling at 10’6”, which required structural engineers to alter a 30’x30’ ceiling. Other details included specific colors and finishes; a modern internet café with exposed floor joists, lighting, heating and air ducts; and very special lighting in each classroom.
