Surgery is located on Richland Street in the historical District
of Columbia. Dr. Smythe Rich, MD, called on Bobbitt for his
practice’s new two-story, 7,800-square-foot building.
The facility, equipped for high-end plastic surgery with
spec space for leasing, has a brick and hard coat stucco exterior.
Bobbitt utilized aerated concrete block (a common style in Europe,
but not widely used in the United States) for a solid, lightweight,
load-bearing material that provides good insulation. The center
is equipped with high-end interior finishes like three-format
glass, arches, radius walls and granite countertops.
Bobbitt worked through challenges like conforming to neighborhood
historical district requirements and utilizing the site space
to provide the maximum building size and parking lot.
