Cleveland Emporium
Built
back in the 1940s, the original Cleveland Emporium was passed
down through generations of the Wells family. In the process
it became a landmark of convenience where shoppers could pick
up the area’s finest cuts of meat – or a part for their lawn
mower. Located off I-40 near Clayton with growth exploding all
around, owner David Wells knew the time had come to expand his
country store.
Wells is a longtime Bobbitt friend who
knew we could turn his vision into reality. Fact is, Cleveland
Emporium is a relaxed place and the new location needed to be
just like general merchandise stores of yesteryear – right down
to the high-front facade with a sloped tin roof. This 10,000
sq. ft. country store has more room for gas pumps, with an improved
layout for its expanded meat department, and a second story
mezzanine for offices. So, even if the community around the
Emporium continues to sprout up right fast, folks know where
to go to get “a little of many things.” Just like the sign says.
