Evon Kirkland Interiors
Bobbitt provided an up-fit for Evon Kirkland Interiors located at Westend, an older part of town at 803 Meeting Street. The project started with a combination of three levels built in the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s. The 10,100-square-foot building was converted into a modern facility for a contemporary interior decorator and specialty lighting showroom.
Some challenges with this design build fit-up came into play when converting multiple buildings, elevations and ceilings into one seamless building. Bobbitt addressed these challenges, while staying in budget. All windows were replaced with glazing; the exterior was redone with brick, stucco and a new storefront; and a new roof addressed the difference in elevations. A living unit was also added for the designer to create showroom vignettes.
Many say it’s “the best building on the block,” a fantastic start to the revitalization of the main corridor into West Columbia.
